GBI rules Habersham shooting deaths a murder/suicide

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports a father-in-law shot and killed his daughter-in-law outside Cornelia Sunday night.

GBI Region 8 Special Agent in Charge Kimberly Williams provided the information via email Thursday.

“Margaret Loudermilk Ansley’s death will be ruled a homicide and Charles Roger Ansley’s death will be ruled a suicide,” Williams’ email states. “No additional information will be released regarding this investigation.”

Habersham County emergency personnel were dispatched to a home on Mud Creek Road, a Cornelia address near Alto, about 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, where two individuals were found shot.

Those individuals, Charles Roger Ansley, 70, and Margaret Loudermilk Ansley, 34, both of Cornelia, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the GBI a short time later.

Autopsies were conducted this week at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.

Funeral services for Margaret Ansley will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia. Burial will follow at Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest.
