The Gainesville girls volleyball team closed out its regular season in Mt. Airy Tuesday with a pair of tough losses in Area 8-6A action.
The Lady Red Elephants fell to Apalachee 25-19 and 25-21 and then lost to Winder-Barrow 25-10, 25-22 in the finale.
Camille Calkins led Gainesville with 4 kills and 4 blocks while Ansley Turner had 9 kills and 15 digs. Camille Holcomb added 2 aces and 10 assists, Isabella Garrish had 13 assists, and Isabella Appling had 22 digs for the Lady Red Elephants.
Kendal Glasper and Lauren Teasley combined for 6 blocks and Lauren Ware finished with 2 aces, 5 kills, and 6 kills.
Gainesville (19-20, 5-5) nxt will play host to the Area 6A-8 Tournament on October 11th and 13th.
BUFORD STAYS PERECT IN 8-5A
The Lady Wolves move to 22-8, 5-0 in Area 8-5A with a pair of dominating wins Tuesday night.
Buford crushed Clarke Central 25-13 and 25-6) and then held off Loganville 25-18 and 25-12).
Mikayla Hayden paced Buford with 19 kills and 7 aces. Gabbie Hogle set up the offense with 27 assists and Julieanne Saliba was solid dfensively with 19 digs for the Lady Wolves.
Buford in back in action on Thursday for senior night against Winder-Barrow and Harrison t close out the regular season. The Lady Wolves will play host to the Area Tournament next Tuesday and Thursday.
NORTH HALL SPLITS IN 7-3A
North Hall split a pair of area matches Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans dropped a tough decision to GreaterAtlanta Christian 25-17 and 25-19 but then rebounded with a 25-16, 25-8 win over East Hall.
Madison Brock had a big night for North Hall with 15 kills, 25 digs, and 4 aces. Maci Gillespie added 31 assists, 6 kills and 8 digs, Grace Hollifield had 11 kills, 4 blocks, 1 assist, and 3 digs, and Alexandria Bryant had 3 aces, 2 kills, and 17 digs for the Lady Trojans.
Bella Foster had 31 digs and 1 ace, Dovie Williams had 5 kills and 7 digs, Ansley Smallwood added 2 kills and 1 dig, and Zoe Finelli finished with 12 digs for North Hall.
