*All branches of the Hall County Library System will be closed Monday, Oct. 8, for staff training.

*The White County Republican Party will have a meeting on Monday, October 15, at 6:30 PM at the Nix Student Center on the campus of Truett McConnell University in Cleveland.  The speaker will be Mike Melton, White County Manager, who will make a presentation on the "Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)" referendum that will be on the November 6 ballot.

*The Union County High School team - William Harkins and Logan Anderson - finished third in the recent 2018 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Wheeler Lake Open presented by YETI. The tournament was held in Decatur, Ala.  The Brooks High School team from Killen, Ala., finished first.

*Young Harris College announces several upcoming fine arts events, including the Cheryl Goldsleger and Larry Millard Art Exhibit, the Concert Band Senior Showcase, the Mu Phi Epsilon Member Recital and the Fall Choral Concert. *More than 30 students from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School joined in with volunteers to help improve areas in and around Tallulah Gorge State Park a week ago as a part of the statewide Your State Parks Day initiative.

*Braselton’s final movie on the Town Green for this year is “Jurassic World” on Saturday, October 13, beginning at dusk.  The popular sci-fi action adventure movie is a Stephen Spielberg creation, rated PG-13 and runs two hours.  Movies on the Town Green are sponsored by the Braselton Visitors Bureau.  For additional information, visit  www.downtownbraselton.com .

*Sen. Butch Miller (R – Gainesville) read to students at The Academy Child Development Center in Oakwood last week as part of Georgia Pre-K week.  Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal was the featured reader at Enota MI Academy in Gainesville Friday and Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan did the honors Thursday at Enota.
