*Dr. Frank McDonald, Jr., served as the Georgia Senate's "Doctor of the Day" Thursday.  McDonald has been with the Longstreet Clinic in Gainesville since 2010.

*The Atlanta Regional Commission has recognized the City of Suwanee for its efforts to lead the way to a greener region by once again designating the city as a Green Community. Suwanee was recertified at the bronze level through ARC’s Green Communities program for its commitment to environmental stewardship and leadership in sustainability practices.

 “Cosmo Whyte: The Enigma of Arrival” will be on display at Piedmont College’s Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art from January 30-February 28, with a public reception on February 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

*Piedmont College Theatre is kicking off the new year with Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing"  February 8-10 at 7:30 P.M. and February 11 at 2:00 P.M. in the Swanson Center Mainstage Theatre.  

*Kindergarten registration for the Hall County School District will be held at each county elementary school on March 20, March 21 and March 22 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., with late registration on Thursday, March 22 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

*Oakwood Elementary School recently attained "Lighthouse” Certification through the Leader in Me School initiative developed by Franklin Covey Education.  Principal Dana Magill said that 473 schools across the nation have attained “Lighthouse” status, a process that takes 3-5 years to complete.

*Jeremy Little, a 20-year veteran of Barrow County Emergency Services, has been promoted to Lieutenant, and will take over the daily supervision of a crew of firefighters and EMTs at Station 5.

*A Waffle House is planned on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville across from the WalMart Neighborhood Market.

*Four of West Forsyth High School’s broadcast students will advance to the Georgia Skills USA Leadership & Skills Conference in March, making them one of only 16 teams chosen in the state.  They are:  Conner Waters, Pri Kolli, Colin Spruill, and Channing Bridges,

*Gainesville High School student Adam Jobson has been selected for the 2018 Georgia Music Educators Association 11/12 All State Orchestra as a violinist.   This is his fifth time to make All State Orchestra.
