Boys basketball: Lakeview stays perfect in 8-A; East Hall, Jefferson, West Hall take non-region wins

GAINESVILE — East Hall got balanced scoring and used a huge second quarter rally to take an 82-59 win over Chestatee Saturday.

The Vikings (10-7) trailed Chestatee 15-5 early in the first quarter but stormed back to take a 35-30 halftime lead. They blew the game open in the third quarter.

Six players scored nine or more points for East Hall. Jayvion Rucker and DJ Gray each scored 11 points. Luke Cooper had 10 poits and Qua Butler, Sedrion Morse, and TJ Campbell each added 9 points for the Vikings.

East Hall outscored the War Eagles 47-29 in the second half. 

The Vikings will be back in action on Monday at Morehouse College in the MLK classic against No. 2-ranked Eagles Landing Christian Academy at 11:20 a.m.

 

JEFFERSON BOYS 57,
APALACHEE 50

Jasper Gibson scored 13 points and Tryston Norman had 10 points to lead the Dragons to a non-region win.

Jefferson (12-7) held the Class AAAAAA Wildcats to 15 points below their season average.

 

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 81,
APALACHEE 56

The Lions remained unbeaten atop the Region 8-A standings after a big road win on Saturday.

Jack Blackburn poured 20 points to go with 8 assists and Blake McIntyre had 19 points and 6 assists to pace Lakeview (11-5, 8-0 Region 8-A). Arturo Varela added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Noah Lindler had 10 points, and Evan Pitts 8 points for the Lions.

Lakeview next will play at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the BCB MLK Showcase at Peachtree Ridge High School against Class AAA No. 2 Jenkins (Savannah).

 

WEST HALL BOYS 62,
JOHNSON 43

The Spartans outscored the Knights 37-22 in th second and thid quarters to pull away for the win at home.
 
The game was tight early on as West Hall (8-10) led just 9-6. But the Spartans took control with the big run.
 
Braden Martin paced West Hall with 21 points. Noah Edmondson had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Sawyer Passmore and Dee Buffington chipped in 7 points each.
 
West Hall will play host to White County on Tuesday in an important Region 7-AAAA contest. Johnson (7-12) has lost five straight and will travel to Clarke Central on Tuesday in Region 8-AAAAA action.
