Campers line up for free Chick-fil-a at new Braselton location

Campers were lined up early Wednesday morning to score free Chick-fil-a food for a year, as the first 100 customers at the restaurant chain's newest location geared up for Thursday's grand opening.

The restaurant, located at the corner of Ga. 211 and Thompson Mill Road, officially had 42 customers in line as of 10:30 Wednesday morning, a number that figured to rise quickly.

Victor Simental, No. 37 in line, was one of the future customers braving the cold.

"I got here around 5:40 (Wednesday morning). Dropped my little girl off at the baby sitter's early, so thank God for her," said Simental.

J. Daar of Pendergrass, No. 36 in line, came to the event with Simental, exclaiming that he "loves some Christian chicken. We're all about the Christian chicken."

It was his first time camping out for an event, Daar said, and would probably be the last. Perhaps the weather is to blame.

"We've had some man cuddling going on," said Daar, who is sharing a tent with Simental, both of whom attend nearby 12 Stone Church with their families.

The new restaurant is scheduled to open shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.
