Volleyball: Branch, Hab Central, East Hall split tri-match

MT. AIRY — Flowery Branch split a non-region tri-match Wednesday in girls volleyball action on the road.

The Lady Falcons (14-4, 1-1) topped East Hall 2-1 (25-18, 12-25, 25-19) behind the play of senior middle blocker Anna Marshall, who had 11 kills, 1 ace, 2 solo blocks, and 2 block assists. Junior setter Ansley McLean had 12 assists, 2 aces, and 1 block assist.

Flowery Branch then lost a tough three-setter to the host Lady Raiders 1-2 (25-22, 23-25, 27-25). Leading the way for the Lady Falcons were senior setter Ashlyn Gibeau, who had 17 assists and 3 aces. Junior outside hitter Phoebe Hammond had 13 kills and 1 ace, and sophomore outside hitter Katie Williams added 20 kills.

The Lady Falcons will travel to Jackson County Thursday night to take on Jackson County and Clarke Central.

After its loss to Flowery Branch, East Hall beat Habersham Central 25-21, 17-25, 26-24 to close out the night.

For the Lady Vikings, Niyah Rucker had 9 points on serve with 5 aces, 5 digs and 14 kills. Savannah Thellman had 18 points on serve with 2 aces, 4 kills, 4 digs and 39 assists, Holly Poole had 6 points on serve with 2 aces, 2 assists, 19 digs and 11 kills, and Summer Lindsey had 5 points on serve, 2 assists and 31 digs for East Hall.

Tessa Rider scored 8 points on serve with 2 aces, 33 digs, 1 assist and 18 kills, Janelly Lara scored 8 points on serve with 1 ace, 2 kills, 2 assists and 23 digs, Macy Thomas had 1 kill, 2 blocks and 2 digs, and Rachel McGee had 2 kills and 1 block for East Hall.
