TOCCOA — A Toccoa man was seriously injured after being struck by a car in the parking lot of a Stephens County store Friday night, and the driver of that car is facing charges.
Daniel Lee Bales, 32, of Toccoa used his black 2012 Ford Mustang GT, which had no hood or front bumper, to strike Nathan Heath Henderson, 32, in the parking lot of Dollar General near Martin, according to Sr. Trooper John Crawford of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.
The impact threw Henderson up and over a parked car, resulting in a compound leg fracture, Crawford said. Henderson was transported by Stephens County ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
There were three witnesses to the incident, Crawford said.
Bales left the scene, but turned himself in at the Stephens County Jail a short time later, where he was charged by Crawford with reckless driving.
Additional charges filed Saturday include aggravated assault with a vehicle, serious injury by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, and improper U-turn, Crawford said.
