A woman was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-85 in Franklin County on Monday morning.

The Georgia State Patrol issued a report saying the accident happened in the northbound lanes of the interstate between Ga. 17 and Ga. 77 just before 7:15 a.m. Melinda Blair Sorrells, age 42 of Stephens County, was reportedly driving a Jeep Wrangler behind a tractor-trailer when traffic started slowing due to weather conditions.

"The Jeep struck the rear of the (truck's) trailer with its front," the state patrol report said. "The driver of the Jeep succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene."

The state patrol said impairment is not suspected in the crash, and no charges are being filed. The driver and passenger of the truck were uninjured.
