A third and final public hearing for Hall County's FY 2018 budget - and the proposed tax increase that goes along with it - is scheduled for Thursday night at 6 at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
Dozens of taxpayers showed up at two hearings on June 15 to protest the 6.95 millage rate, which represents an increase of about 26 percent in the tax rate. The actual increase in property taxes would translate to 4.5 percent, according to Hall County Finance Manager Zachary Propes.
Hall County commissioners are set to vote on the $103.6 million budget following the final public hearing.
