Track and Field: Area athletes excel at state sectionals, headed to finals

By AccessWDUN Staff

The top athletes in northeast Georgia showed that they belong amongst the best in the state this weekend, as they competed and excelled in sectional meets scattered throughout the state.

Dozens impressed over the course of the competitions, qualifying for state finals that will take place May 11-13. This year's championship meets will be split amongst three locations as opposed to the recent tradition of girls in Albany and boys in Jefferson. This year Classes A Private, AAAA and AAAAAAA will compete in Rome; Classes A Public, AA and AAA will compete in Albany; and Classes AAAAA and AAAAAA will compete in Carrollton.
