ALBANY, Ga. — North Hall's Abi Moore won the girls Class 4A 800-meter race on Saturday at Hugh Mills Stadium.
The junior finished with a winning time of 2:15.75, edging out Kendra Ivaska of Starrs Mill by one second in a sprint to the finish for the individual state title.
Moore's finish helped the Lady Trojans to a sixth-place overall finish with 33.5 points, which was the highest finish for any Region 8-4A team. North Hall nipped fellow 8-4A foe North Oconee, who was seventh with 31 points.
In Class 7A, the Buford boys finished tied for second with Walton with 46 points. The Buford girls tied for fourth with Lowdnes County with 44 points.
The Buford boys were bolstered by a title win for the 4x400 relay team and several second place finishes.
For the Lady Lady Wolves, senior Sydney Harris won the 400-meter state title and junior Jaci Wright won the long jump.
In Class 6A, the Gainesville boys finished 10th overall with 28 points. Habersham Central took 18th with 14 points. The Gainesville girls were 23rd overall with 10 points.
