Nobody was hurt, but authorities say they have a big mess to clean up today after a CSX train derailed in Barrow County early Monday morning.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office reported the derailment happened at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Bowman Mill Road in Winder. While CSX works to get the cars back on the track, the railroad crossings at Bowman Mill Road and Cash Road will be closed. In addition, Atlanta Highway will be closed in both directions between Hardigree Road and Jackson Trail. Authorities said the process could last well into Monday afternoon.
CSX said there were no dangerous spills associated with the derailment.
CSX is investigating the cause.
