Father of alleged Apalachee shooter Colin Gray's trial postponed

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

The father of the alleged Apalachee High School shooter has had his trial postponed.

That’s according to a filing in the Superior Court of Barrow County on Wednesday.

A hearing was held Wednesday, with Colin Gray’s attorneys saying they needed a continuance due to a conflicting case in Fulton County.

Colin Gray’s attorneys, Jimmy Berry and Brian Hobbs, both have separate homicide cases in Fulton County. Berry’s case is scheduled to start the week before the original Sept. 8 trial date and Hobbs’ multi-defendant homicide case starts on Sept. 8. Both Fulton County incidents were indicted in 2022.

Colin Gray is accused of allowing his son Colt Gray access to the weapon that he allegedly used in the Sept. 4, 2024 shooting that took the lives of four people and injured nine others.

The trial date of Sept. 8 was set back in April, and more recently Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm decided in May that the trial would be in Barrow County with a jury imported from Hall County.

Now, the court will confer with the counsel for both sides and the Hall County Superior Court on a rescheduling.
