By AccessWDUN Staff
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced the arrest of a suspect and released several details about a fatal shooting at a Barrow County grocery store.

According to a press release from the GBI, Barrow County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 50-year-old Darrin Russell without incident about an hour after the Friday afternoon shooting that left his wife, 51-year-old Dorothy Russell of Statham, dead.

The incident reportedly happened in the parking lot of an Ingles grocery store in Auburn when police were called to a domestic dispute at around 5:00. When police arrived, they reportedly found Dorothy Russell dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside her vehicle.

"On Friday (March 7) the GBI was requested by the Auburn Police Department to investigate a shooting incident that resulted in the death of Dorothy Russell," said GBI spokewoman Nelly Miles. The Statham Police Department also assisted in the case.

Miles added, "Her husband, Darrin Russell, has been charged with one count of murder and is currently being held in the Barrow County Jail."

Authorities say an autopsy will be performed on Russell's body at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur.
