GAINESVILLE — The Region 8-A Tournament continued on Monday at the Lakeview Academy gym with four teams moving into the quarterfinal round.
In the boys action, Riverside Military knocked off Athens Academy 69-52 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Eagles next will take on No. 1 North seed Lakevierw Academy on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the state tournament. The Hebron Christian boys also advanced with a 68-46 thumping of Providence Christian. Hebron will play No. 1 South seed Athens Christian on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
In girls action, Athens Christian beat Hebron Christian 55-18 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Lady Eagles next will take on No. 1 North seed Lakeview Academy on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the state tournament. Providence Christian advanced with a 53-47 win over Commerce and will play No. 1 South seed Prince Avenue at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The entire Region 8-A Tournament is being hosted by lakeview Academy. The semfinal round will be on Friday and the finals will be on Saturday.
