DAWSONVILLE — The East Hall girls kept pace with Greater Atlanta Christian in the race for the No. 1 seed in Region 7-AAA after taking a tough 54-48 victory over Dawson County Tuesday night on the road.
Lady Vikings (15-8, 10-1 Region 7-AAA) outscored Dawson County (8-15, 5-6) 14-7 in the first quarter to grab the lead and then 20-16 in the fourth quarter to pull away late.
"That was a big win for us," East Hall coach Justin Wheeler said. "W'e're still a young team and it was good to see them make some plays late in the game. Dawson County has improved and so have we from that first game. Right now we're just trying to get ready for the tournament. I like where we are but we just need to keep playing hard."
Carly Winters led the way for East Hall with 17 points. Kylah Mize added 15 points and Macy Thomas 12 for the Lady Vikings.
Cadey Ayers scored 17 points to lead Dawson County. Abi Chatham and Kaylee Sticker added 10 points each for the Lady Tigers.
