An Alto man is facing charges, accused in the alleged rape of a woman on Mud Creek Road late Monday night.
Mark Aaron Gibson, 32, allegedly restrained the female victim "leaving visible marks on her neck" then "disabled a vehicle in an attempt to prevent her from escaping," said Lt. Scott Ware, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman in a statement.
The 29-year-old victim, who was apparently acquainted with Gibson, was able to call 911 from a neighbor's house. Deputies searched Gibson's residence, and ultimately arrested him Tuesday, though Ware said Gibson "physically resisted" arrest.
Gibson is charged with rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy, battery, false imprisonment and obstruction of an officer.
He was booked into the Hall County Jail without bond. A committal hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.
