BUFORD — Defending Class AAAAA state volleyball champion Buford, and the top seed, moved into the semifinals after sweeping eighth-seeded Carrollton Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals.
The Lady Wolves next will take on No. 4 seed Riverwood, which needed five-ets to take down fifth-seed Whitewater. Buford will play host in the semifinal round on Wednesday.
In other volleyball playoff action, Class AAA No. 2 seed North Hall advanced to the semifinals for a second consecutive season with a sweep of Savannah Arts at home.
The Lady Trojans, who have been ranked in the top two for most of the season, will await the Pace Academy-Jackson County winner.
North Hall will play host to Pace Academy in the semifinal round on Wednesday.
Rabun County, however, was not able to get past No. 1 seed St. Vincents falling to the defending Class AA state champions in a three-game sweep at Holy Innocents' on Saturday.
