DAWSONVILLE — The Dawson County boys picked up a big Region 7-AAA win Friday night.
The Tigers jumped out toa 21-4 lead in the first quarter and then cruised to a 62-44 victory over North Hall at the Dawson County gym.
The win for the Tigers (11-11, 5-5 Region 7-AAA) moved them within a half-game of the Torjans (13-10, 6-5) in the standings.
North Hall outscored Dawson County 13-5 in the second quarter to close the gap to 26-17 at the half but the Tigers answered with a 10-6 run in the third quarter to take control. The Trojans pulled within 48-41 with three minutes to go but the Tigers closed out the game on a 14-3 run.
Dawson County was led by Cullen Reed with 19 points. Jeremiah Crumley added 17 and Joseph Cronan scored 11 points for the Tigers.
Dawson County next will play host to East Hall on Tuesday.
