Max F. Ward, a longtime leader in the North Georgia poultry industry will be remembered at graveside services in Gainesville Saturday afternoon.
According to President Emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation Abit Massey, Ward was one of the founders of CWT Farms.
"[He] was the W with John Cromartie and Joe Tankersley," said Massey in an email. "He also was one of the owners of Twin Oaks Hatchery and Mar-Jac Poultry, being President of the latter and leading it to become one of the major poultry processors in Georgia."
Massey said Ward served as Chairman of the Georgia Poultry Federation Board in 1961-62 and continued to support the industry long after he retired.
"The poultry industry in Gainesville and Hall County is larger, better and stronger because of Max Ward and other visionary poultry pioneers and innovators," Massey said.
Ward, who died Wednesday at the age of 95, will be remembered at a 2 p.m. graveside service at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
