Volleyball: GHS splits vs. Buford, Johnson; Lady Knights swept

OAKWOOD — The Gainesville volleyball team defeated Johnson but fell to Buford on Wednesday in Oakwood. The Lady Knights also fell to the Lady Wolves on Wednesday. 

Buford took a 25-12, 25-8 win over Gainesville in the opener, but the Lady Red Elephants (25-18) rebounded for a 2-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-16) win against host Johnson.

Sydney King led Gainesville with 5 aces and 18 digs, while Savannah Roys had 28 assists, 4 aces, 24 digs, and 2 blocks. Tangi Miller added 10 kills and 7 digs, and Abby Alexander contributed 9 kills and 4 blocks; Cori Griffith had 7 kills, 4 digs, and 2 blocks; Anna Wylie had 4 blocks; Isabella Appling added 2 aces and 12 digs; and Olivia Gettys had 4 kills.

Gainesville concludes its regular season on Tuesday against Habersham Central in Mt. Airy.

Johnson also fell to Buford 25-9, 25-10. 

Samantha Summerville provided 6 aces, 8 kills and 12 digs for the Lady Knights (21-16), while Grace Eidson added 3 aces, 21 kills, 12 assists and 18 digs. Emma Hernandez also had 9 kills, 3 aces and 5 blocks, and Alivia Farley provided 15 assists, 26 digs and 6 kills. Julia Bowers also put up 18 digs.
 
Johnson travels to face Chestatee on Thursday.
