TUNICA, Miss. — The Piedmont men's golf team was back in action Monday at the Rhodes College Men's Fall Collegiate Golf Classic, posting a 15th place finish in the season opener. After a tough first round the Lions were unable to climb the boards even with three Lions posting better round two score. As a team, PC ended the competition with a combined score of 621 for both rounds, improving from 315 in round one to 306 in round two.
After both days, sophomore Garrett Rowland was the leader for the Lions squad, shaving two strokes off his round one score in day two of the competition. Rowland broke into the top 25 with his final score of 150. For the 36 hole tournament, Rowland posted par on 25 holes, only two less than the category leader.
Along with Rowland, three of the Lions golfers posted better round two scores. Nick Scott shaved three strokes off of his round one score finishing at a new personal low of 76. Senior Jake Forbes improved his round score by five strokes from the previous day finishing with 76 on the day.
