Softball: Union County hands North Hall first 7-AAA loss in thriller

BLAIRSVILLE — Kendra Tanner drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Union County a 2-1 victory over North Hall Thursday in Region 7-AAA action.

It was the first region loss for the Lady Trojans (7-5, 7-1 Region 7-AAA) and coupled with East Hall's win on Thursday they now lead the Lady Vikings (9-5, 6-2) by just one game for first place. It also snapped a four-game winning streak for North Hall.

The Lady Trojans play at Lumpkin County on Tuesday in another region matchup.

Union County (8-7, 5-3) is hot having now won five straight games. The Lady Panthers will travel to Dawson County on Tuesday in a Region 7-AAA battle. 

Union County struck first when Jillian Lawn drove in a run in the third inning. North Hall answered in the fourth when Kailee Dyer scored in front of Julian Garrett's triple.

Carson Negley, Camilla Howell, and Macy Clark also had hits for North Hall.

Laken Chambers got the win for Union County scattering six hits and two walks and struck out seven in a complete-game effort.

North Hall's Niki Carver gave up just four hits and fanned four in 6 2/3 innings in the loss.
