GAINESVILLE — Niki Carver made history Tuesday night for the North Hall girls softball team.
The senior tossed the first-ever perfect game for the Lady Troans in an 8-0 win over Dawson County in Region 7-AAA action. Carver needed just 62 pitches in the six-inning complete game; she fanned four.
North Hall (4-4, 4-0 Region 7-AAA) used a five-run first inning to take control. Kadie Sullens and and Ashlyn Brewster each had RBI singles and Macy Clark capped the big inning with a three-run home run. The Lady Trojans added two more in the third on RBI hits by Abigail Gilleland and Carver. North Hall invoked the run rule when courtesy-runner Kennedy Olson scored on a walk-off single by Julian Garrett.
The win kept North Hall atop the region standings. Dawson County (4-5, 1-3) fell into a tie for fifth with Union County with the loss.
The Lady Trojans next will travel to second-place East Hall on Thursday in a battle for first place. The Lady Tigers will host to Greater Atlanta Christian.
