Volleyball: North Hall stages big rally to beat GHS

GAINESVILLE — North Hall rallied from two sets down to beat Gainesville Thursday in girls volleyball action.

Gainesville took the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21 but the Lady Trojans won the third set 25-12 to stay alive, then held off the Red Elephants 30-28 in the fourth set to tie the match and then completed the comeback with a 15-10 win in the fifth set.

Lily Paschall led North Hall with 28 assists, 23 digs, one block, four kills, and one ace. Melissa DeVerter had eight kills, seven blocks, and nine digs,  Autumn Tucker had 23 kills and 15 digs, Lena Strickland added six digs, one ace, and two assists, and  Madison Brock had five kills and four digs for the Lady Trojans. 

Caroline Brady had five digs and one ace and Savannah Miller added four kills for North Hall.

Gainesville featured freshman Isabella Appling, starting her first match as libero, as she tallied 10 aces and 19 digs. Savannah Roys also added 17 kills, 18 assists and 18 digs; Bessie Winston had nine kills; Tangi Miller added three kills; Caroline Mercer and Ashley Filson together produced 10 digs, and Camille Holcomb had 16 assists.

The Lady Red Elephants (2-3) travel to West Forsyth on Saturday to play in the Forsyth Challenge.

North Hall next will plays in the Battle at the Branch on Saturday.
