Softball: Chestatee continues hot start, sweeps trio at Piedmont College

DEMOREST — The Chestatee girls softball team is off to its best start in nearly a decade after sweeping a trio of games Saturday at Piedmont College.

The Lady War Eagles (5-0) beat Dawson County 6-1 behind Rebecca Eddins, who tossed a complete game scattering four hits and fanning seven. Cheyenne Roper was the offensive catalyst driving in two runs and scoring twice. Hannah Jones had two RBI for Chestatee.

In an 8-0 win over Gainesville, Elizabeth Eddins fanned seven and allowed just two hits in a complete-game shutout in the circle. Elizabeth Eddins also knocked in two runs at the plate. Roper had three more RBI for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee needed just three innings in the finale in routing Towns County 16-1. Rebecca Eddins got her second win of the day giving up five hits. Elizabeth Eddins had two hits and two RBI and Roper continued her strong day at the plate scoring three runs and and driving in her sixth run of the day.

Chestatee next will take on Peachtree Ridge on Monday in a non-region contest at Talon Field.
