Gainesville planners approve senior community off McEver Road

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board has approved an annexation request for a new active adult community.

The 110-unit complex, being built by Spring Road Group, LLC, would sit on a 10 acre plot near the intersection of Spring Road and McEver Road, next to the existing Pointe Lanier community.

The community will house senior citizens and will feature a clubhouse, tennis courts and a swimming pool, according to plans from the developers. 50 of the complex's units will be in an apartment-style building, while the other 60 will be in attached, single-family units.

The group said another goal of the facility is to beautify what it called a "blighted" property in the area of Pine Circle Drive across from Gainesville Elementary School.

The board approved the request at its meeting Tuesday evening.
