Two women — one in critical condition, one in stable condition — were taken to Athens Regional Medical Center following a car crash Friday in Jefferson.
Two cars were invovled in the accident, which happened on Old Pendergrass Road near Kroger shortly before noon, according to Jackson County Public Safety Director Steve Nichols.
When crews arrived on the scene, one woman, described by Nichols as high school aged, was trapped inside her vehicle.
She was extricated with help from the Jefferson Fire Department and taken by ambulance to the hospital in critical condition.
The other woman, described as being in her late 30s, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash, and declined Friday afternoon to release the identities of those involved or which driver was at fault.
