Emergency crews continue to assess the damage done by an early-morning storm on the south side of Jefferson.
According to social media posts by the Jefferson Fire Department, as many as 25-30 houses were damaged when high winds knocked over trees and pulled down power lines around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
A number of streets remain closed because downed trees make those streets impassable.
The damage reportedly covers about a mile of territory. Officials said they do not know yet if a tornado might be to blame.
At this point, no injuries have been reported.
