Habersham traffic stop yields drugs, one arrest

By AccessWDUN staff
A traffic stop in Habersham County earlier this week resulted in the seizure of about $2,000 worth of drugs and one arrest.

Mitchell Posey of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Cazzie Allen Stewart 31, of Alto, was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted Wednesday by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office on the vehicle being driven by Stewart.

"During the traffic stop, deputies observed drugs in the vehicle and a search of the vehicle was conducted," Posey said.  "During the search of the vehicle, officers recovered approximately one-and-a-half ounces of crystal methamphetamine and prescription hydrocodone pills.  The street value of the illegal drugs seized is worth approximately $2,000."

Stewart was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone) and a seat belt violation.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office assisted in the investigation, according to Posey.
