Two people were arrested Saturday when authorities found narcotics and a firearm in their vehicle after a traffic stop in Habersham County.
In a release, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office said Habersham County Sheriff's Office deputies pulled over 25-year-old Deontae Thomas of Riverdale for speeding and failure to maintain lane. As officials searched the car, they reportedly found methamphetamine and Roxycontin as well as a handgun.
Thomas was arrested and charged with DUI, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during a crime among other charges. His passenger, 37-year-old Naomi Barrimond of Stockbridge, was also arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the release, the estimated value of the narcotics was around $16,000. The case is still under investigation.
