JEFFERSON — The Flowery Branch girls basketball team continued its strong play to open the season taking the Tabo's Tipoff Tournament with a 61-40 win over host Jefferson Tuesday.
Taniyah Worth poured in 16 points to lead the Lady Falcons (3-0). Lexie Sengkhammee added 14 points and Caroline Wysocki 10 for Flowery Branch.
The Class AAAAA second-ranked Lady Falcons led just 17-13 after the first quarter but used a 19-7 second quarter to pull away for a 36-20 halftime lead. The outscored the Lady Dragons (3-1) 25-20 in the second half.
Flowery Branch will be back in action on Friday Holiday Inn Express Tournament in Cleveland, Tenn. against Spring Garden out of Alabama.
Jefferson is off until next Tuesday when it will travel to Class AAA No. 1 Morgan County.
