North Hall volleyball won two matches on Thursday, including a three-set battle with Greater Atlanta Christian School, to claim the Area 7-AAA title.
The Lady Trojans gutted out a two-set showdown with East Hall to reach the title match, winning 25-20, 26-24. They then jumped ahead of GAC 25-17 only to watch the Lady Spartans rebound for a 25-23 win that evened the match at 1-1. But North Hall stayed in control, claiming another 25-17 victory in the third and decisive set.
Lily Paschall had 58 assists, 8 kills and 3 digs during the night to help the Lady Trojans clinch the crown and was aided by Autumn Tucker, who had 23 kills and 7 digs. Melissa DeVerter also supplied 25 kills, 2 aces, 6 blocks and 5 digs, while Lena Stickland had 3 aces and 16 digs.
Grace Hollifield also had 5 kills for North Hall, while Savannah Miller had 6 kills. Caroline Brady had 2 kills and 3 digs; Holly Worden had 3 aces; and Maci Gillespie had 5 digs.
North Hall will host a first round state tournament match on Wednesday. East Hall, meanwhile, will travel in the first round after finishing as the No. 3 seed from 7-AAA.
The Lady Vikings (36-12) went 3-1 in the tournament, defeating Dawson County (25-19, 25-12), losing to North Hall 20-25, 24-26 but defeating Lumpkin County (25-10, 25-14) and Fannin County (25-18, 18-25, 25-23).
Savannah Thellman had 12 points scored on serve with 5 aces, 8 kills, 8 digs and 64 assists to help pace East Hall on the night, while Holly Poole had 20 points scored on serve with 5 aces, 16 kills, 2 blocks and 8 digs. Summer Lindsey also had 14 points scored on serve with 3 aces, 5 assists and 48 digs, and Tessa Rider scored 29 points on serve with 7 aces, 1 assist, 1 block, 47 digs and 9 kills. Minette Maldonado scored 13 points on serve with 7 aces, 32 kills and 27 digs; Niyah Rucker had 3 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 37 kills, 1 assist, 8 digs and 6 blocks; Janelly Lara scored 5 points on serve with 3 aces, 1 assist and 4 digs; Ariana Hernandez scored 10 points on serve with 5 aces, 2 kills, 3 assists and 20 digs; Macy Thomas had 5 kills and 2 blocks; and Gali Rios had 8 points scored on serve with 2 aces and 3 digs.
