DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County is peaking at the right time.
The Tigers won their fourth straight game Friday night after whipping rival Lumpkin County 71-39 at home in a key Region 7-AAA contest.
Dawson County led just 13-7 after the first quarter but exploded for 21 points in the second quarter to take a 34-17 halftime lead. The Tigers (12-10, 3-6 Region 7-AAA) blew it open in the second half outscoring the Indians (16-7, 6-4) 37-22 and holding them to just nine points in the fourth quarter.
Cullen Reed paced Dawson County with 21 points. Jeremiah Crumley added 13 points and Gabe Bryant had 13 points, seven rebounds, and eight blocks.
Jack Howard led Lumpkin County with nine points.
