HOMER — State officials are probing the death of a woman incarcerated at the Banks County Law Enforcement Center.
The inmate, Tammy Sue Greenway, 47, of Maysville, was found unresponsive in her cell at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday.
Banks County Emergency Medical Services responded and rushed Greenway to a local hospital, where she later died.
"Foul play is not suspected," said Sgt. Carissa McFaddin of Banks County Sheriff's Office.
McFaddin said the GBI was requested in accordance with sheriff's office policy.
Greenway was arrested Jan. 23 for aggravated assault.
