Two dead in Dawsonville murder-suicide

DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County authorities are investigating a murder-suicide after authorities discovered two deceased people Wednesday afternoon after receiving a 911 call about a dispute in Dawsonville.

Dawson County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Deputy Johnny Holtzclaw said authorities responded to the call on Maple Hill Drive off of Highway 9 around 1:12 p.m.

Thinking they had a possible active shooter scene, Holtzclaw said numerous Dawson County deputies responded.  His agency also requested the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.

"Some time around 2:35 (p.m.) we were able to secure the scene and it was safe, and that's when we did locate the two deceased persons," Holtzclaw said.

"There were no shots or anything from law enforcement," Holtzclaw added.

Shortly after the discovery, Holtzclaw said the road was re-opened and the SWAT team and Georgia State Patrol were released, confident there was no longer any danger.

"We're just starting the investigation as to who those persons (deceased) are and any type of relationships that they may or may not have."
