CLEVELAND - A former GBI agent who was instrumental in the formation of the Appalachian Drug Task Force has died.
Frank Baker, Jr., began his career in law enforcement with his fathr, Frank Baker, Sr., who served as White County Sheriff for 32 years. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University in 1973, he began his career with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as Special Agent in Milledgeville. He later was transferred to the Region 8 office when it was still in Gainesville, before it was moved to Cleveland, and was promoted to Special Agent in charge. He served there until his retirement in 1993.
Services for Baker, who was 64, are scheduled for Tuesday.
