THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- Game times and ticket prices have been set for the 2015 NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Regional hosted by Catawba. The tournament will begin on Thursday and run through Sunday at Finch Field in Thomasville, N.C. Finch Field is the home of the Thomasville Hi-Toms of the Coastal Plains League, a summer collegiate wooden bat league.
The No. 14 Nighthawks are the third seed and will play the opening game on Thursday which features a rematch of the opening round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament against fourth-seeded Georgia College at 11 a.m. GC won that tournament game 9-3, while the Nighthawks won two of three in the regular season.
The University of North Georgia baseball team is making just its second trip to the NCAA Tournament with the only other appearance coming in 2008 when the team made the NCAA South Atlantic Regional after winning the PBC Tournament Championship in the school's first eligible year of NCAA postseason play. This marks the first at-large selection for the program.
Ticket prices will be $12 per day for adults and $5 for children under 17. College students of participating schools can also gain admission for $5 with a valid college I.D. An all-tournament pass will be available for $32 for adults and $15 for children under 17 and college students with an I.D.
The middle game pits the number two seed Mount Olive versus fifth-seeded Wingate at 3 p.m. Mount Olive swept a doubleheader from Wingate in mid-April, winning by the scores of 9-8 and 8-6.
The final game of the day at 7 p.m. will see top-seeded Catawba face sixth-seeded North Greenville. The two teams have not met since 2009 with Catawba winning the last three meetings and hold a 4-1 edge in the series.
