Gainesville Police are warning citizens of suspicious activity reported to them in the Shallowford Road and Dawsonville Highway area.
Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said in a release that they were alerted to a white male in his 20's, sometimes two men, in parking lots of businesses in the area, asking people for a ride or asking for cash.
"He goes in to somewhat of a rant... he comes up with different stories, so it doesn't necessarily make sense, which does raise our concerns as far as why these individuals are approaching these patrons of these businesses."
Holbrook encouraged citizens to alert police if they are approached by this person, or persons, in a similar manner. He also encouraged citizens to be cautious: shopping in pairs especially after dark, asking store security or management for an escort to your vehicle, and remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
