GBI: Cornelia bank robber used purported bomb

CORNELIA - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public's help identifying the man who robbed Traditions Bank in Cornelia about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The robber is described as a slender male with a medium complexion, 5-foot-7 to six feet tall, wearing dark pants and a camouflage hoodie.

According to the GBI, the man reportedly entered the bank wearing a Spiderman mask and holding a device that he threatened was a bomb. No one was hurt and the man took an undisclosed amount of money.

The man was driving a dark-colored, four-door hatchback car similar to a Nissan Versa or Chevrolet Spark.

The GBI and Cornelia police are investigating, and are working with Gwinnett County Police to compare the Cornelia robbery to one that occurred there.
