COLUMBUS — The Chestatee girls could not overcome a rough first half in a 43-23 loss to Central High (Phoenix City, Ala.) Monday in the Shaw Chirstmas Tournament.
The Lady Wra Eagles (4-5) trailed just 13-6 after the first quarter but were outscored 8-0 in the second quarter to fall behind 21-6 by halftime. The cut the lead to 33-19 heading into the fourth quarter but managed just four points over the final eight minutes.
Brooklyn Popham led Chestatee with nine points. Lindsey Caudell added eight points and Eramiss Hernandez and Dawndria Bell had three points apiece for ther Lady War Eagles.
Chestatee next will play Shaw in the consolation game on Tuesday at Shaw High School.
