Boys basketball: Banks Co. holds off East Hall in 7-AAA showdown

RABBITTOWN — Banks County stayed unbeaten with a come-from-behind 73-68 win over East Hall Friday night in an early Region 7-AAA battle for first place.

The game was tied at 12 after the first quarter but East Hall (4-2, 1-1 Region 7-AAA) outscored the Leopards (6-0, 2-0) 18-14 in the second quarter for a 30-26 halftime lead. Banks County exploded in the third quarter with a 25-13 run to take a 51-43 lead into the fourth quarter. 

The Leopards held on down the stretch behind Zez Steeple and Kendrick Simmons, who poured in 17 points each. Kalmal Wiley had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Dylan Orr added 11 points, and Trevae Cain and 10 points for Banks County. Zac Orr had five points 10 rebounds. 

Banks County next will play host to Dawson County on Tuesday and the Vikings will travel to Lumpkin County next Friday in a pair of 7-AAA battles.
