Boys basketball: Big second half carries Banks Co. to win over Hart Co.

HOMER — Banks County moved to 4-0 on the season pulling away in the second half to beat Hart County at home Friday night.

The Leopards outscored the Bulldogs 43-21 after halftime to blow open a close game.

The game was tied 10-10 after the first quarter with Banks County leading just 26-20 at intermission. The Leopards opened a 45-33 with a 19-13 run in the third quarter and then used a 24-8 fourth quarter to blow it open.

Zez Steeple paced Banks County with 23 points. Kahmal Wiley added 14 points and nine rebounds, and Trevae Cain had 10 points for the Leopards. Kendrick Simmons had nine points and six rebounds, Zac Orr had six points points and 14 rebounds, and Dylan Orr added five points and five rebounds  for Banks County.

The Leopards will play host to Chestatee on Saturday before opening their R egion 7-AAA schedule on Tuesday against West Hall at home.
