ATLANTA — Jefferson's run in the Class AAA state volleyball tournament came to a gut-wrenching end Saturday in the Elite 8 at Holy Innocents'.
The Lady DFragons battled back twice from a set down but eventually fell 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12 in an epic battle with Oconee County.
Jefferson finished the season with a school-record 36-8 record behind a strong senior class led by Lindsey Nilsen, Madison Corbett, Olivia Przybysz, and Mary Carson.
Abby Wood had a monster match with three aces, 19 kills, and 28 digs on the afternoon for Jefferson. Grace Haney had eight kills, eight digs, and 21 assists, Carson had eight kills and seven digs, Corbett had 34 assists and 14 digs, and Nilsen had 16 kills for the Lady Dragons.
Darien Matlock had eight digs, Bre Arbanas had seven kills and and four digs, Olivia Przybysz had 28 digs, and Savannah Davis had three digs for Jefferson.
