GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City School System (GCSS) is rallying all schools and volunteers in the system to read to children on Monday as part of a global reading initiative.
"Read Across the Globe" will involve children around the around the world in every time zone.
As a result of the district’s participation, GCSS will be a part of the world's largest effort to promote reading. The school district is pledging that 5,000 elementary and middle school students will be reading or will be read to for at least 30 minutes Monday with the help of faculty, support staff, and volunteers.
