GAINESVILLE - The Festival of Trees committee at Challenged Child and Friends (CCAF) has created a scholarship tree this year in memory of a longtime supporter.

The 9-foot tree will be adorned with pictures of the children of CCAF and their handprints and will enable guests to make donations to help with the youngsters' therapies, equipment, and tuition.

The tree is dedicated to the memory of Despy Foley. Best known in Gainesville as the owner of Joyce Merck Florist, Foley was a longstanding member of the committee who worked "tirelessly" to help put togetehr the Festival of Trees for many years. Foley died earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
In addition, this year's auction will again be hosted through Qtego Auction Technology Services. Through Qtego, anyone will have the opportunity to preview the auction items and even place bids during the weeks leading up to Festival of Trees on Saturday, December 6.

Auction preview and registration will be active by November 17 at www.challengedchild.org.
