GAINESVILLE - Georgia DOT will hold two public input meetings next month on potential improvements to Georgia Highway 20 between Cumming and Canton.
DOT says it is seeking to "identify potential improvements" along the road between I-575 in Canton and Georgia 400 in Cumming to "improve mobility, reduce congestion and address safety." Officials say Georgia 20 has exceeded its capacity and "multiple improvements" are needed in Cherokee and Forsyth counties.
Following a series of public meetings in May 2013 where people provided ideas for potential improvements along the road, meetings on Dec. 10 and 12 will provide the public with an chance to comment on initial alternatives and learn more about the next steps of the Georgia 20 project.
At these open house meetings, there will be no formal presentations. GDOT staff will be available to discuss the project as they seek feedback on the potential solutions for the corridor. Identical information will be presented at each meeting.
The dates, times and locations are as follows:
December 10, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
