GAINESVILLE - A former assistant chief of the Gainesville Fire Department died Sunday.
Charles Myron Sewell, 87, died at his home following an extended illness.
Sewell worked for the Gainesville Fire Department for 37 years. In addition to serving as assistant chief for part of his career, he was also a past President of the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
