ABBEVILLE, S.C. - A northeast Georgia man who died after jumping 50 feet from a train trestle into a lake near the Georgia-South Carolina line has been identified as 41-year-old Timothy Scott Fleming of Elberton.
Sam Ferguson, the deputy coroner in Abbeville County, S.C., says Fleming was with a group of men when they decided to jump around 4:30 p.m. Sunday from the trestle into South Carolina's Lake Russell.
Ferguson said Fleming's body was recovered later Sunday evening in water about 80 feet deep. He said the death has been ruled a drowning.
Fleming's son, Ryker Fleming, says his father decided to do a front flip off the trestle and landed on his face.
